Degradation of Low Concentrations of Formaldehyde in Sono Catalytic Ozonation Advanced Oxidation Processes using Zero-valent Iron
The purpose of the current study is to evaluate formaldehyde degradation ratio with various methods in a batch reactor. In this work, the ozonation, sonolysis (ultrasonic), and ozone sonolysis, sono catalytic ozonation (SCO), and nano zero-valent iron catalyst processes were investigated for removal of formaldehyde. In addition, the influence of important factors such as pH (5–9), ultrasonic po...
متن کاملThe mechanism of Fe (III)-catalyzed ozonation of phenol.
Fe (III)-catalyzed ozonation yielded better degradation rate and extent of COD (Chemical Oxygen Demand) or oxalic acid as compared with oxidation by ozone alone. Two parameters with strong effects on the efficiency of ozonation are pH of the solution and the catalyst (Fe(3+)) dosage. The existence of a critical pH value determining the catalysis of Fe (III) in acid conditions was observed in ph...
متن کاملIron cyclopentadienone complexes derived from C2-symmetric bis-propargylic alcohols; preparation and applications to catalysis.
A series of complexes containing the iron-cyclopentadienone structure were prepared by cyclising bis-propargylic alcohols and their derivatives with iron pentacarbonyl. The resulting complexes were characterised and tested in the catalysis of ketone reduction and alcohol oxidation. The complexes are competent catalysts for ketone reduction and alcohol oxidations.
متن کاملEfficient water oxidation catalysts based on readily available iron coordination complexes.
Water oxidation catalysis constitutes the bottleneck for the development of energy-conversion schemes based on sunlight. To date, state-of-the-art homogeneous water oxidation catalysis is performed efficiently with expensive, toxic and earth-scarce transition metals, but 3d metal-based catalysts are much less established. Here we show that readily available, environmentally benign iron coordina...
متن کاملCatalysis of soluble hemoglobin oxidation by free iron on sickle red cell membranes.
Abnormal deposition of hemichrome on the inner aspect of the sickle red cell membrane promotes premature cell demise. The steps proximate to hemichrome formation in these cells are poorly understood. To test the hypothesis that the pathologic deposits of free ferric iron located on the inner aspect of sickle cell membranes would be redox active and promote oxidation of soluble oxyhemoglobin, we...
